Installing and Uninstalling Project Packages

Project Specific Packages are packages containing assets that are only installed on a specific project. Please note that generator parts cannot be added to a specific project and packages with generator parts only must be installed as a Global Package.

Installing a Project Specific Package

  1. Make sure that you already opened the project. If you have no idea how to do this, please see the Opening a Project article.

2. Click Install New Package under the Project Specific Packages tab.

3. Select the package you want to install. If you want to use a standalone XML file, please make sure that it is placed in the directory where the assets are located. (For more info, please see the Package Manager File Formats article.)

NOTE: If another version of the selected package is already installed, you will be greeted by a message box asking you if you want to update the currently installed package with the selected package. Click yes if you wish to do that.

4. A dialogue with the information about the package will appear. To view what assets are contained in the package, you can click the View Assets button which will show the Package Assets window. (To know how to use the Package Assets Window, please see the Package Assets Window article.)

5. If you are happy to proceed, click install package.

6.  A message box asking if you want to make a backup of the project will appear. It is recommended that you always make a backup when making any changes making any changes to the project assets.

7. If you clicked yes, a save dialogue box will appear which asks you where the backup will be saved.

8. After a backup has been created or if you clicked no on the message box asking you if you want to create a backup, the installation process will commence. The operation might take awhile but once it is done, you will receive a confirmation saying that the package has been installed successfully.

Removing a Global Package

1. Make sure that you already opened the project. If you have no idea how to do this, please see the Opening a Project article.

2. Under the Currently Installed List Box on the Project Specific Packages Tab, select the package you want to remove.

3. You can use the search bar if you are having a hard time locating the package you want to uninstall.

4. Once you have selected the package, click “remove package”. A message box asking you for confirmation will appear. Click yes if you want to proceed with the operation.

5. Another message box asking if you want to make a backup of the project will appear. It is recommended that you always make a backup when making any changes making any changes to the project assets.

6. If you clicked yes, a save dialogue box will appear which asks you where the backup will be saved.

7. After a backup has been created or if you clicked no on the message box asking you if you want to create a backup, the uninstallation process will commence. The operation might take awhile but once it is done, you will receive a confirmation saying that the package has been removed successfully.
