Installing and Removing Global Packages

Global Packages are packages containing generator parts and assets that will be installed in the NewData directory under the RMMV installation directory. The NewData directory is the directory copied along when a new RMMV project is created thus, any global packages installed are automatically added as project specific packages when creating a new project.

Installing a Global Package

  1. Click Install New Package under the Global Packages tab.

2. The Open File Dialogue Box will appear. Select the package you want to install. If you want to use a standalone XML file, please make sure that it is placed in the directory where the assets are located. (For more info, see Package Manager File Formats)

NOTE: If another version of the selected package is already installed, you will be greeted by a message box asking you if you want to update the currently installed package with the selected package. Click yes if you wish to do that.

3. A dialogue with the information about the package will appear. To view what assets are contained in the package, you can click the View Assets button which will show the Package Assets window. (To know how to use the Package Assets Window, please see The Package Assets Window article.)

4. If you are happy to proceed, click install package.

5. A message box asking if you want to make a backup of the currently installed assets will appear. It is recommended that you always make a backup when making any changes to the assets.

6. If you clicked yes, a save dialogue box will appear which will ask you where the backup should be saved.

7. After a backup has been created or if you clicked no on the message box asking you if you want to create a backup, the installation process will commence. The operation might take awhile but once it is done, you will receive a confirmation saying that the package has been installed successfully.
